Things To Do in the Algarve
Barão de São João flea market
If you feel like exploring the area in between yoga sessions, we can recommend Barão de São João. It is a laid-back little village with a bit of an alternative hippy vibe. The flea market is held on the last Sunday of every month and is one of the area's hidden pearls, a great place to visit if you are in the south of Portugal.
Vendors turn up in their old vans and vehicles and sell secondhand clothes, paintings, old books and handcrafted jewellery. You can also find household items, local products and heaps of homemade vegan & vegetarian food. Traveling musicians are jamming in front of their van or giving a concert, and there are cold beers and cocktails to enjoy. For the kids there is a skate mini ramp and wood oven pizza for the hungry ones. It takes a bit of rummaging around to find anything you might need at Barão flea market, but it’s worth visiting if only just to observe how bohemian life looks like in this quirky part of the Algarve.
